Itinerary

  1. 1
    Bonaire

1 hr - We start our tour to go to the, South-, or the North side of Bonaire. - The South side is more flat: Salt pans, Slave huts, Lighthouse, Flamingo's. We end our tour with a Private guided snorkeling tour. Or - North side more hills: 1000 steps, Gotomeer, Rincon, Seru Largu. We begin our tour with a Private snorkeling tour.

  2. 2
    1000 Steps

15 min - The 1000 Steps Bay is named after the limestone stairs that you have to descend to get to the beach. The truth is that these stairs only have about 67 steps.

  3. 3
    Gotomeer

15 min - The road to Gotomeer is beautiful. We’re going to see all kind of birds: the WaraWara (big bird of prey), the Lora (parrot), the Prikichi (parakeet) and of course the beautiful Flamingo’s. We stop to see the fantastic view.

  4. 4
    Rincon

30 min - Rincon, is the oldest village in continual existence in the Dutch Caribbean. It was stablished by the spanish at the beginning of the 16th century but in fact, the Arawak indians had already used the valley for one of their settlements before the Spanish arrived on the island,. When the dutch arrived, they continued using this area as settlement, and today around 2000 people still live in this fertile valley, bathed by the gentle breeze that comes from the ocean.

  5. 5
    Seru Largu

20 min - the “Cruz Seru Largu” viewpoint (‘the Cross at Big Mountain’) is the most accessible view of the island of Bonaire. It gives a magnificent view over its capital Kralendijk.

  6. 6
    Salt Pier

15 min - The south of the island of Bonaire is host to the famous salt flats & mounts. An area where Cargill has been operating since 1997 producing some of the purest salts in the world Using the salt, the sea and winds of Bonaire, the salt accumulated in the impressive mounds of crystals is produced. The Salt pyramids of Bonaire can be seen when arriving either by sea or by air, each of those is roughly 50-feet high and contains approximately 10,000 metric tons of 99.6% pure salt. As you drive along south road, you will notice the different colors of the water, turning into an intense pink color.

  7. 7
    Slave Huts at Orange Pan

15 min - These huts were built in 1850 during the slavery era and served as a camp site for slaves, who worked at the salt pans in order to collect and ship salt, one of Bonaire's primary export products. These huts were used as sleeping areas and places for storing personal belongings. Every Friday afternoon, the slaves walked for 7 hours from Rincon to spend the weekend with their families, to return on Sunday. Four Obelisks on Bonaire were used as landmarks to show incoming ships the way. The obelisks were painted red, white, blue and orange (the colors of the Dutch flag).

  8. 8
    Bonaire National Marine Park

1 hr 30 min - We go to one of the beautiful snorkeling spots on Bonaire. To enjoy a carefree private snorkeling tour. You get a short briefing of what we are going to do. I take underwater photo's during the tour. We are approximately an hour in the water.
