Onze mangrovebostour met kajak met glazen bodem & snorkelen begint bij het prachtige strand van Lac Cai. Het Bonaire Mangrove-natuurreservaat bevindt zich in Lac Bay National Park. Bezoekers kunnen de mangroven alleen in het gezelschap van een ervaren natuurgids bezoeken. Een stabiele sit-on-top-kajak met glazen bodem is uitgerust met een comfortabele rugleuning, een waterdichte tas voor uw persoonlijke eigendommen en uiteraard peddels. U kajakt in kalme wateren.
De kajak met glazen bodem is het ideale vervoermiddel in deze prachtige en rustige omgeving. U manoeuvreert op uw gemak door de ondiepe mangrovewateren en tunnels.
U ziet vier verschillende soorten mangrovebomen in kristalhelder water, peddelt langs vogelhabitats en plekken waar vissen kuit schieten en u leert meer over de relatie tussen de planten en dieren. De snorkellocatie biedt een grote verscheidenheid aan waterleven en wordt door velen beschouwd als een must tijdens uw bezoek aan Bonaire!

Patrick and Uri were great! They picked up our group from the cruise port and took us to the kayak launch point and provided dry bags and snorkels, then stroopwaffels and juice when we were done kayaking. Uri was our guide during the kayak portion, and he was very friendly and professional and knowledgeable about the mangroves and Bonaire. Most of our group were able to keep up, although I would not recommend this trip if you have never paddled, as it’s not strenuous, but a few people in our group joked about how much work it was and they were ready to relax since they were on vacation. If you’re looking for something active to do, this fits the bill. We got in some kayaking, snorkeling and swimming and on our way back to the cruise port, Patrick told us more about the island. Very informative, and I would definitely do this again if I find myself on the island again.
I would advise anyone who is fair skinned or prone to burning to wear a long sleeve shirt/rash guard and other sun protection (hats, sunglasses, etc) because sunscreen and bug spray are not allowed in the mangroves. You won’t be able to (re) apply sunscreen once you start the tour, and much of it isn’t shaded.
Adventure in the Mangroves

If you’re up for adventure and you enjoy the water and natural surroundings, this excursion is for you. It was a good amount of kayaking, but hearing the history behind the mangroves while kayaking through them was great. There’s also a snorkel component that I did not participate in, but as per some of the other patrons, the water in the mangroves was on the murky side making it difficult to see. I was able to see some of what was in the water without the snorkel gear. For me, the downside was the vicious mosquitoes in spite of adequate bug spray prep. Keep in mind you’ll be out in the sun for awhile, so bring your shades, hat, & sunscreen. Also be prepared to put in some hardcore arm work as you will be paddling with your partner for awhile. Overall, it was a good, enjoyable experience.

The tour was nice and easier than I expected (no wind on that day) but the snorkel part was short and hurried, all the group just went alongside a short and narrow mangrove tunnel and back (water was shallow enough you could touch the bottom almost everywhere) so it was crowded and the people in the back could see less because people on the front had moved the bottom or scared fishes. The kayak part, on the other hand, could have been shorter as all the tunnels are very similar. I would have appreciated a more in depth naturalistic explanation from our guide who was nice overall. In short, I am happy that I went but it is improvable and not such a must do experience as other comments say.
